TO CONTACT CONGRESS
In general: Letters, if they are sent to the regional congressional office, are more effective
than calls; Calls more effective than e-mail. Faxes must be in there somewhere.
When you send letters to Washington DC, security procedures take weeks to get
the mail to their destination. You can get your letter there more quickly by
sending it to their regional office.
Contact your network of family, friends, acquaintances and colleagues.
Send updates to all of your friends, colleagues and family. Ask them to take action.
Give them ideas for action, including this page. Follow up and encourage them.
For some people, the way to encourage phone calls is to give them some company.
This is especially true of people who have never contacted Washington before
or who feel embarrassed or uncomfortable on the phone. Invite them to your home
or office to make the call.
